Common questions

How do I pair two devices?
  1. Install Ooples on both iPhones.
  2. At first launch, choose your name and avatar.
  3. On one device, tap Create a link. A QR code appears.
  4. On the other device, tap Join and scan the QR code.
  5. A verification code appears on both phones. Confirm it matches.
  6. Pairing is complete. You can start messaging.

If both iPhones are nearby (same Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on), pairing can also happen automatically.

I can't connect to the app

Check the following:

  • Your internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) is active.
  • The app is up to date on the App Store.
  • Try force-closing and reopening the app.

If the problem persists, contact us at support@ooples.fr with your iOS version and iPhone model.

I'm getting a new iPhone — what happens?

Your local history won't transfer automatically, as messages are stored securely on your device.

On your new iPhone:

  1. Install Ooples.
  2. Create your profile.
  3. Pair again with your partner's iPhone.

Your existing history cannot be recovered. Contact support@ooples.fr if you need help.

How do I delete my data?

From the app settings:

  1. Open Ooples and go to the Settings tab.
  2. Select Erase data.
  3. Confirm. All local data (messages, files, encryption keys) is deleted immediately.

This action is irreversible. For a server-side deletion request, contact privacy@ooples.fr.

How do I report a bug?

Email us at support@ooples.fr with:

  • Your iPhone model
  • Your iOS version
  • Your Ooples version (visible in app settings)
  • A description of what happened
  • Whether the issue is reproducible
The app is asking for permissions — is that normal?

Ooples may request access to certain iPhone features:

  • Camera: to take photos or scan a QR code.
  • Photo library: to share photos from your gallery.
  • Microphone: to record voice messages.
  • Notifications: to alert you of new messages.
  • Face ID / Touch ID: to protect app access.

These permissions are used solely for app functionality. No data is shared with third parties.
